Beschreibung: About the Project
The Molecular Nanophotonics Group at Leipzig University, led by Prof. Dr. Frank Cichos, is offering an exciting doctoral researcher position as part of a prestigious NSF-DFG international collaboration with Princeton University and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Start Date: July 1, 2025 (or earliest possible date)

Research Focus: This cutting-edge project aims to revolutionize our understanding of molecular interactions at solid–liquid interfaces through innovative experimental approaches. By combining expertise in:
• Feedback controlled thermofluidic manipulation of single molecules (Cichos group, Leipzig)
• Nanoparticle DNA functionalization (Yang group, Princeton)
• Quantum dot synthesis (Snee group, University of Illinois at Chicago)

We are developing the foundations of ultrasensitive molecular manipulations techniques within microfluidic environments.

What You Will Do
• Design and conduct thermofluidic manipulation experiments using plasmonic substrates
• Work with functionalized quantum dots and single-molecule fluorescence microscopy
• Develop novel microfluidic techniques for molecular separation using artificial intelligence
• Collaborate closely with international research partners at Princeton and Chicago
• Present findings at international conferences and co-author publications in high-impact journals

Qualifications
• Master's degree in Physics/Physical Chemistry with excellent academic standing
• Strong background in optical microscopy (single molecule detection experience is highly advantageous)
• Experimental skills in optics, microscopy, and/or microfluidics
• Programming experience for data analysis and experiment automation (Python preferred)
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary and collaborative environments

What We Offer
• State-of-the-art laboratory facilities at Leipzig University
• Comprehensive training in advanced experimental techniques with applications in both academic and industrial settings
• International research network spanning three world-class institutions
• Support for conference travel and research visits to partner institutions in the US
• Professional development opportunities including teaching experience and transferable skills training
• Vibrant research community in a culturally rich and affordable European city

Application Process
