The Research Training Group 2771 “Humans & Microbes” offers one scientific PhD student position in infection biology.
The position will be located at the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Virology and Hygiene of the University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf (UKE) in the group of Prof. Aepfelbacher. The candidate will be associated with a dynamic and competitive research training group in Hamburg (https://grk2771.de) and will profit from its educational, methodological and networking activities
We are looking for a PhD candidate in Molecular Bacteriology to investigate the immunosuppressive function of a Yersinia enterocolitica effector protein (PMID: 37806297, 27300509, 20957203).

sCRISPR/Cas mediated mutagenesis and gene editing of Yersinia; affinity purification and mass spectrometric analysis of host-pathogen protein complexes; in vitro protein-protein interaction; super-resolution fluorescence microscopy of bacterial and host proteins in fixed and living macrophages
